Stanley’s Stick is featured in the Sunday Times summer reads for children – 26/6/11.

John Hegley’s understatedly funny text is often arresting, and Neal Layton’s evocative illustrations, set on Stockport station and Blackpool Beach, use snippets of collage and a joyous line, as if the pencil has gone a bit wild on holiday. The book should guarantee hours of imaginative play.’
